Photorealistic Scene Reconstructions for Simulation, Analysis and Presentation
CHAPEL HILL
,
N.C.
, July 21, 2008 – 3rdTech announced today new functions in
SceneVision-3D, its industry leading 3D scene capture and re-creation software,
for importing and positioning models from Poser® Pro – 3D Figure Design and
Animation software from Smith Micro Software, Inc (NASDAQ:
SMSI). Available in August to SceneVision-3D users, this expands the use of
SceneVision-3D for the display and analysis of crime
scenes with representations of victims, suspects, witnesses and officers at
different times in the scene.
SceneVision-3D,
with DeltaSphere 3D Laser Scanner software, produces photorealistic
reconstructions of a crime scene as captured at the time of the investigation.
These models are invaluable for measuring, analyzing, and presenting the crime
scene as found. Now, 3D figures easily can be added to the 3D model for
simulation and analysis.
·
An officer
can be positioned at a doorway to demonstrate his/her initial arrival at the
scene. This can be combined with SceneVision’s ‘ViewPoint’ function to
illustrate exactly what was visible to the officer.
·
A victim can
be positioned to illustrate bullet or blood spatter trajectories – as produced
by SceneVision’s ‘Spatter Tool’.
To
incorporate Poser Pro data into SceneVision-3D, 3rdTech has added import and
export of ‘OBJ’ format 3D models to the software. OBJ format is an open 3D
computer graphics model format compatible with many of the industry’s most
widely used modeling, animation, and CAD software packages. This
new capability expands the use of SceneVision models for animation and
simulation.
These
new features will be shown, for the first time, at the International Association
of Forensic Sciences meeting, July 23-25 in
New Orleans
, and will be available to current and new SceneVision-3D customers later this
summer.
